Yoga For a Cause

Back in the spring, a group of women decided that they wanted to participate in the practice of 108 Sun Salutations. I agreed to lead this endeavor, even though, I myself had never completed 108 Sun Salutations before. Practicing 108 Sun Salutations in the yoga community is something that is typically done at the change of seasons, a way to usher in the new season with gratitude and hope. The numbers, 108, are significant as well. 1 stands for one higher being, higher power, God. 0 means that without God, we are empty/nothing. 8 is the infinity symbol and stands for the fact that God is ever present, timeless, and forever with us; past, present, and future.

We have been training and practicing since the Spring Equinox for our 108, building and adding more and more Sun Salutations as the weeks and months passed. We are just a few weeks away from Autumn Equinox, which is when we will be practicing 108, and we are excited! All 108 will be practiced on the same day in three separate sessions. We are ready!

It occurred to me that I can combine this event with something else that has been on my heart and in my mind for a couple of months. I have been wanting to have the opportunity to offer yoga classes, both private and group sessions, to cancer patients. I would also really like to gift to each cancer patient props that would be useful in their practice. Things like a mat, blocks, a strap, bolster, blanket. Having the right equipment when practicing can make a big difference, especially if you are fighting cancer.

So, I have decided to dedicate this 108 Sun Salutations Event to my dream of having a reserve fund for cancer patients. When a cancer patient comes to Breathe Grace Yoga, they will receive a bundle of props and whatever classes will suit their treatment plan and needs.

If you would like to sponsor this event and cause, my team for the 108 would greatly appreciate it! I already have one client who is battling cancer and I would love to gift this person with some extras to support their journey!

You can donate through PayPal, Venmo, or by check or cash. Feel free to message me if you have any questions at all. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your continued support of Breathe Grace Yoga!
